I love the rain. In summer. Even storms. I simply love watching the lightening in the sky and listening to the crashing thunder. I was reminded of this today when Ziva at Ziva’s Inferno and MikeWJ at Too Many Mornings both posted pictures of rain as part of their 30 day photo meme.
The last summer storm we had it just poured. The wind picked up and the lightening was amazing. My wife jumped up and ran to the powder room yelling “Dufus, Dufus, come here, come here.” She thought she’d be safest in the middle of the house away from any windows. Meanwhile, I stood at the patio screen door, the glass door flung back, soaking (literally) in the summer storm.
By the way, the wind was so bad it blew down the stage at our local Bluesfest, nearly killing Cheap Trick!
As a result of the storm our power went out. Talk about karma biting you on the ass. Serves me right for communing with the rain and wind gods.
I don’t know what it is about me and my attraction to rain. A couple of weeks ago my son and I were golfing when a storm broke out mid way through the 17th hole. My son was quite concerned about the likelihood of lightening and told me “Dad, don’t swing your club too high. You’re a human lightening rod!” We had to stop playing. Well, at least we had lower scores. So my karma’s back on track.
Oh, and for those of you that got my play on words in the headline, here’s a little treat for you…
